Oyster Paradise page 1

A comic featuring an healthy oyster bed, Phillip Gerba eating an oyster, a leni Lenape eating an oyster, a working class pair leaving a New York oyster cellar, a fancy waiter serving oysters on a silver platter, a person tonging oysters from a boat, a person seeding oysters from a boat, and scene of poluters contamanating a dead oyster bed.

I was inspired to create this story after talking with some people who had volunteered at the Billion Oyster Project. They are a great organization based on Governor's Island, who I will be mentioning in next weeks comic. After deciding I was going to write a story about oysters I also found, and read, a book about oysters in NYC called "The Big Oyster" by Mark Kurlansky. If you want a deeper dive into NYC's oyster history I highly recommend it.

After next week I will print what I have here as an old fashioned paper comic. This is something I've never done and am expecting many challenges, so after the oysters I'll be releasing these comics on a monthly rather than a weekly basis. I also have many other sequential art projects I want to work on so this will become a monthly comic for the foreseeable future.
